The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a N-facing slope of rising ground in an upland area. The poorly preserved remains of a rectangular house (approx. dims. 10m N-S; 13m E-W; wall T 1.75m), orientated on a NE-SW axis, surviving one storey high with a small tower at the NE angle. The walls are constructed with roughly coursed limestone rubble. There is no remaining evidence of the E half of the building. There is a destroyed window at the E end of the N and S walls. The angle tower has no entrance feature visible, it was possibly entered at the top of the tower from the main house. The voussoirs of a small arch are visible at base of the E wall of this tower. No entrance feature or cut stone visible.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
