The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on flat grassland in upland area with a bowl-barrow (TN019-016----) 30m to N and stone pair (TN019-041----) 20m to E. Good views of the Arra Mountains from SE-S-SW with limtied views of higher ground to the N. The uneven upper surface of a rock outcrop or earthfast boulder (dims. 3.4m NW-SE x 2.8m SSW-NNE) which inclines to the SSW protruding above the surface of the grassland is decorated with numerous cup marks which appeared to have been carved into the surface of the stone. The NW face of the upright E stone of the nearby stone pair (TN019-041----) appears to have cupmarks similar to the carvings on the rock outcrop.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
