The National Monuments Service's description

Situated among hills at the NE end of the Arra Mountains. It consists of the remains of a gallery divided by septal-stone into a portico at the SW, now represented by a single orthostat, and a main chamber, 1.15m-1.35m wide, of which two orthostats survive at either side. The main chamber, now 2.4m long, lacks a backstone. A displaced roofstone rests against its southern side and three stones form a close-set outer wall to the N. There are traces of a mound at the W side of the structure. (De Valera and Ó Nualláin 1982, 81, No.1)

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
