The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on SE facing slope on gentle slope in undulating terrain. Site overlooks bog to SE. Located immidiately E of Cullaun stone (TN018-012) but no standing stones are visible from site. Site not marked on 1st (1843) or 2nd (1904) ed. OS 6-inch map. Length of what appears to be a stoney bank (16m L; W 1.2m crest, 2.6m base; int. H 1m; ext. H 0.67m), now grassed over, partially encloses N half of a hollow area. It would appear to be upcast from quarrying. This upcast has itself been quarried into in NE quad. According to a local source the site was a ringfort which has been quarried in the 1930's to supply material for the construction of a nearby lane (Stout 1984, 55). Large boulder has been dumped on site in NW sector. Site now appears as a disused quarry which may have been an antiquity.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
