The National Monuments Service's description
Along the centre chainage line are three burnt mounds, each associated with a spring
line. The W mound is around 40m across x up to 1m high and is associated with a
peaty area of ground to the S, in which there are occasional pieces of unworked wood. This is the spring marked on the 1835 Survey from which water was drawn until recently. To the west is the location of an earlier, probably prehistoric spring which seems to have been the focus for the Burnt Mound/ On clearing back the burnt mound heap a series of at least three troughs (lined with wood) are seen in this area and to the east is a mass of pitting or hollows. The mound had clearly been levelled and cut through with many ditches and modern drains. Some of these ditches are shown on the 1835 and 1904 Surveys. One of a group of three burnt mounds.
