The National Monuments Service's description
Located on a gentle E-facing slope in an area of rock outcrop, hummocks and undulating pastureland. A circular area (diam. 33m N-S) best preserved at W with the remains of an earth and stone bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m), a flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 2.5m; D 0.86m) and an outer bank (Wth 1.5m; ext. H 0.6m) only visible at W. The site is poorly preserved - large portions of the interior have been quarried into and mounds of dumped stone discarded. There is some evidence of collapsed stone facing on the banks and there is a gap in the inner bank at NNW. A N-S field boundary skirts the inner NE edge of the site.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
