The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the summit of a hill in undulating terrain. The site, which is heavily overgrown with scrub and brambles, consists of a circular area (diam. 26m) enclosed by an inner bank (Wth 1.9m; int. H 0.33m; ext. H 1.86-3.5m), a wide, flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 3.7m; D 0.9m) and a small counter-scarp bank (Wth 1.2m; ext. H 0.55-1m). There is a causewayed entrance (Wth 2.5m) in the NE quadrant with stone paving and stone lining, particularly well preserved on the SE side. A lot of stone lies on top of the banks and stone-facing is evident on the outer bank. A stone wall occupies the top of the inner bank at W.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
