The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a flat tract of land with streams to E, S and W and a drainage gully to N, in generally undulating terrain. A possible large enclosure (TN015-092002) lies c. 10m to the NE. Though levelled this enclosure (diam. 33m N-S; 35m E-W) is clearly defined by a raised circular area (H 0.25m) surrounded by a faint fosse (Wth 3-3.5m, D c. 0.25m) emphasised by a darker, lusher grass growth. There is some suggestion of an outer bank, particularly at E and S. The edge of the W sector has been truncated by a N-S field boundary, now replaced by an electric fence. According to local information the site was levelled c. 20 years ago and was bivallate.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
