The National Monuments Service's description
Located just off the crest of a ridge sloping to NE, in pasture. A circular area (diam. 32.7m E-W), defined by a bank (Wth 2.1m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.55m) largely reduced to a scarp, a wide, U-shaped fosse (Wth 4.9m; D 0.95m) and an outer bank (Wth 2.9m; ext. H 0.33) with a causewayed entrance at ENE (Wth 4.5m). The banks are of mainly earthen construction, though the outer bank has been further augmented with stone and utilised as a field boundary. The, interior, much overgrown, slopes to the N.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
