The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a S-facing slope in undulating pastureland. Not indicated on 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map and depicted as a small circular enclosure on the 1901-05 ed. A circular area (diam. 28m) enclosed by earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 1.4m) which has been reduced to scarp downslope to S as a result of tree collapse. Conifers grow in the interior which also has evidence of ridge and furrow/lazy-bed cultivation. There is no clear evidence of a fosse or entrance feature. The site may be a tree-ring or a ringfort reused as a tree-ring.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
