The National Monuments Service's description

According to the National Museum of Ireland Correspondence Registers (IA/110/65) in the townland of Borris 'A burial found in a drain, extended east-west (head in west) 3 1/2 - 4 ft deep in sandy soil. No trace of a grave, no protecting stones - not examined further' (Cahill & Sikora 2011, vol. 2, 515).

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
