The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in an area of flat pasture. In an early seventeenth-century Inquisition on the property of Gerald Grace the 'castle, towne and lands of Carney' are listed (Gleeson and Leask 1938, 214). There are no earthworks visible at ground level around Carney tower house (10:52(01)).
