The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on flat pasture in undulating countryside. In the Patent Roll of James I in 1618 there is a reference to 'the small thatched castle of Ballicolliton containg 20a small measure in the town and fields thereof' which was rented by Daniel and William McEdmond Mc Teige (Cal. pat. Rolls, Ire., Jas I, 40). There are no earthworks visible at ground level around Ballycolliton tower house (TN009-042).
