The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a low rise of natural rock outcrop in poorly drained marshy terrain. Depicted as a circular tree plantation and not as an antiquity on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map. Not indicated on subsequent editions of the OS 6-inch maps. Today a circular plantation of whitethorn bushes around the base of a low hillock marks the location of this possible monument. This feature appears to be tree-ring or ring of bushes which grew up around an area of rock outcrop. Of doubtful antiquity.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
