The National Monuments Service's description

House depicted on Down Survey (1655-6) map shows a cluster of 4 dwellings and tentatively located to 'Fairyhill House' in Gortinarable townland. Field inspection in 1995 established that the house at this location is eighteenth century in date with associated outhouses. Seventeenth-century house remains unlocated in the area.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
