The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a N-facing slope of rising ground in an upland area. An oval-shaped area (max. diam. 116m N-S; 86m E-W) enclosed by an inner fosse only visible at E and a shallow external fosse divided by a low earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1m) with possible entrance gaps at SW and E. The differential growth in vegetation at the time of visit indicated the presence of a smaller inner enclosure (max. diam. 72m N-S; 59m E-W; Wth of growth 2m).

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
