The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on flat grassland immediately S of mill race and corn mill (TN005-004----) with Pallas church (TN005-005001-), graveyard (TN005-005003-) and ecclesiastical enclosure (TN005-005002-) 230m to NNE. Pallas Castle (TN005-006001-) and bawn (TN005-006002-) 60m to E, with Pallas Bridge 30m to SSE. Stream marking townland boundary with Pallas 30m to E. Cropmark of a roughly square-shaped area (approx. dims. 52m N-S ; 64m E-W) defined by a scarp, fosse, low bank and external fosse which appears to situated on a low rise of ground. Low cultivation ridges are visible running roughly N-S across interior. The cropmark of this earthwork is visible on Digital Globe aerial photograph and earlier OSI aerial photographs. This cropmark is located very close to the medieval watermill depicted on the 1654-7 Down Survey map of Dorrha parish standing on the W side of the stream in the townland of Pallis now part of Gurteen townland (NLI, MS 721). The earthwork may be related to the medieval mill of 'Pallis' or could be the medieval 'Pallis' from which the townland derived its name.
