The National Monuments Service's description
Located on low-lying pastureland in undulating countryside. Hachured on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch and on the revised 1901 ed. OS 25-inch map as a circular platform-type earthwork. This monument is not indicated on the revised 1901 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Depicted on the OS maps as a roughly circular flat-topped platform (diam. 29m N-S; ext. H 0.7m) defined by a scarp with no evidence of an external fosse or outer bank. The placename 'Kiltaroe' is marked in the fields to the E of this earthwork on the revised 1901 ed. of the OS 25-inch map.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
