The National Monuments Service's description
In rough pasture, at the base of a SE-facing slope of a ridge; on top of a slight elevation on the N side of a stream or drain. Recorded as a kidney-shaped grass-covered cairn of stones (L 7.7m; Wth 6.4m; H 1m) during a previous inspection in 1993 (SMR (1989) file). The cairn is now levelled and evident only as a low roughly circular rise (diam. c. 10m) with indistinct edges and a central hollow. Patches of black soil and heat-shattered stones are visible through the thin sod cover on the surface of the rise. A possible fulacht fia (SL047-093001-) lies c. 40m to SE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
