The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, c. 20m N and downslope of a rath (SL047-084001-) and a rectangular enclosure (SL047-084002-). A pattern of earthen field boundaries (Wth 2m; H 0.5m) and scarps define small fields covering an area c. 200m x 200m. The fields are mostly irregular in size and shape though some are square or subrectangular (average field size: 15m x 15m) and some have slightly raised interiors. The field boundaries generally follow sinuous curving lines on natural contours. The field system is indicated only on the 1914 OS 6-inch map and survives mostly as depicted, though some of the smaller subdivisions are not indicated and a roughly D-shaped field at the N limit has been removed during land reclamation. In the same townland is a second field system (SL047-083004-) c. 300m to W. There is a burnt mound (SL047-084004-) to S.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
