In a wet meadow, below an earlier shoreline of Lough Gara. A barely perceptible rise (8.3m N-S; 8.2m E-W) covered with dense green grass. Other than a few stones that are visible at the perimeter of the site, there is very little surface evidence of this crannog. It is one of a group of eight possible crannogs (see SL047-012002-; SL047-012003-; SL047-012004-; SL047-012006-; SL047-012007-; SL047-012008-; SL047-012009-) and one crannog (SL047-012001-) in the small bay between Derrymore Island and Derrybeg townland.
