The National Monuments Service's description

In 1836 it was recorded that 'there was anciently a burial place in Shrooff, near Mr McDermott's house called Cillin Dubh' (OSL, 418). The exact location of this burial ground is not known. According to local information, Mr McDermott's house is that named 'Coolavin' on the shores of Lough Gara and the burial ground is somewhere N of the rath (SL046-025----).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
