The National Monuments Service's description

One of two short cists (see SL046-003002-) found in the SE quadrant of a ring-cairn (SL046-003001-) (Wallace 1974, 23-4), both of which were covered by a thin layer of cairn stones and revetted by a low crescent-shaped setting of small orthostats. This is a rectangular cist, of simpler construction than its neighbour, having a single floor composed of two sandstone slabs. The cremated remains of several individuals were recovered, some of which had been swept under the floor slabs and a further quantity, probably an insertion, on the floor surface. An almost complete bowl food vessel of tripartite type was found with the cremated bones on the upper surface of the floor. (Waddell 1990, 133; Ó Ríordáin and Waddell 1993, 131)

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
