The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on a low ridge with good views, overlooked by a parallel and higher ridge to NE. A raised roughly circular area (26m NE-SW; 29m NW-SE) defined WSW-WNW by a substantial earthen bank (Wth 4.7m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 2m), truncated NW-N by quarrying, and defined elsewhere by a scarp (H 2m), with a slight internal lip evident in places from E-S. Outside the scarp NNW-NE is a level terrace (Wth 4m) defined on the outer edge by a scarp that merges with the gradual N-facing slope of the ridge. The scarp E-SE is incorporated into a field boundary bordering a farmyard immediately to SE. The interior slopes down gently to SE. There is an infilled grass-covered quarry pit (diam c. 12m) at the base of the truncated bank at NW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
