The National Monuments Service's description
A rectangular graveyard (c. 45m N-S; c. 40m E-W) enclosed by a stone wall. In the centre are the fragmentary remains of Knockmore Abbey (SL044-003001-), a Carmelite foundation. The graveyard is still in use. It contains many 19th- and 20th-century headstones, and some low uninscribed grave-markers, including some which are reused moulded stones from the friary (see SL044-003001-). There is one chest-tomb near the SE corner.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
