The National Monuments Service's description

In rocky gorse-covered pasture, on level ground at the base of, and built against a 10m high W-facing cliff. The ground slopes down gently to the W. The remains of a rectangular structure (8.55m N-S; 2.4m E-W) with earth and stone walls (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.4m) on the S, W and N sides; the E side is formed by the cliff. The internal face of each wall is revetted with limestone slabs. The entrance (Wth 1m) is in the W wall, off-centre to S, revetted on both sides with courses of unmortared rubble limestone. The interior is slightly sunken. Though named 'Giant's Grave' on the 1914 OS 6-inch map, this is not a megalithic tomb but rather, as suggested by Ó Nualláin (1989, 99, no. 28), the foundations of a building. It was noted by Wood-Martin (1883-4, 456).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
