The National Monuments Service's description
Not included in the SMR (1989) but listed in the RMP (1995) and classified 'House Site'. Not shown on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map. In pasture, on an E-facing slope overlooking Lough Gowra. Upon inspection in 1994 The remains of a rectangular stone-built house (L 8m; Wth 2.8m) were identified. The walls (T 0.95m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 0.3m) are sod-covered and composed of stones bedded on their sides. A door ope (Wth 0.45m) is on the NW side. A limekiln is indicated on the 1838 map c. 40m to the E. (SMR file). On a re-inspection in 2002 no remains of this house could be found. However, 20m to SE are the foundations of another rectangular house (11.4m E-W; 5.2m N-S) divided internally into two rooms of unequal size. Yet another house lies 11m to S connected to the previous one by a ruined wall. These are all likely to be 18th/19th century in date.
