The National Monuments Service's description
In undulating pasture, overlooking Lough Arrow to N. A slightly raised circular area (21.4m E-W; 19m N-S) defined S-NW by a sod-covered stone wall (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.8m) and elsewhere by a stony scarp (H 0.5-0.8m). The scarp merges NNE-SE with the natural fall of ground. Internal stone facing is evident at SSW and external facing at NE. The interior is level; slightly S of the centre is a moss-covered cairn (5.5m N-S; 4m E-W; H 0.8m) topped by blackthorn bushes. A square platform (4m E-W; 3m N-S; H 0.6m), defined by a stone scarp, projects from the external face of the cashel wall at NW. A single boulder is embedded in the SW corner of the platform. Another cashel (SL040-181---) lies c. 100m to NNE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
