Ringfort - cashel

The National Monuments Service's description

In undulating pasture, on the top of a limestone bluff in the SW-facing foothills of the Bricklieve Mountains. A broadly oval area (int. diam. 30.1m NW-SE; 24.2m NE-SW) enclosed by a substantial ruined stone wall (Wth 4m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1m). Large limestone boulders protruding from the bank may be remains of external stone facing. From W-NW the outer edge of the stony bank coincides with a low natural scarp of limestone. A few metres to W there is an abrupt drop (H c. 4m) at the base of which is flat wet pasture. From E-SE are remains of a field boundary wall (Wth c. 1m) grafted onto the external face of the stone bank and rising c. 0.4m above it. A low berm-like stony spread (Wth 2m; H 0.4m) skirts the base of the stone bank SE-WSW. The interior is level and grass-covered. There is a possible entrance (Wth 2m) at E. Another cashel (SL040-146----) lies 24m to ENE.
