The National Monuments Service's description
In heather-covered blanket bog at the N end of a level plateau on top of Kesh Corann. A large pear-shaped area (c. 170m N-S; c. 170m E-W) defined by a low stony wall (Wth 2.5m; H 0.4m) engulfed in blanket bog. The wall can be traced as a slight rise SW-SE and short sections of it are exposed at NW revealing a jumble of stones and slabs. The wall coincides with a natural break of slope NNW-E, marking the N edge of the plateau. At N, it tops a vertical scarp of exposed bedrock (H 1.7m). The wall is difficult to trace SE-SW and it appears that portions of it may be covered in bog. A possible passage tomb (SL040-008----) lies within and close to the N end of this hilltop enclosure. Condit, Gibbons and Timoney (1991, 62) noted that while this enclosure follows the contour of the limestone terrace on the hill it 'does not seem to exploit the natural defenses of the hill'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
