The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on a level strip of ground on the NE bank of a stream. Indicated as an embanked circular enclosure on the 1838 OS 6-inch map on the E bank of a stream. The course of the stream was altered on the 1914 OS 6-inch map and indicated as forming the straight side of a D-shaped raised area with a mound at the centre. The enclosure has been levelled and a slightly raised D-shaped area (c. 34m NW-SE; c. 28m NE-SW) is evident, defined by a slight rise NNW-SSE with an infilled external fosse (Wth 1.5-2m) E-SSE. The stream (recut to serve as a drain) forms the straight side at SW. The interior is slightly domed, sloping down from the centre to the perimeter where it merges with the surrounding field. The interior surface is poached by cattle, uneven and covered with rough grass. There is an oval quarry pit (6m NW-SE; 4.6m NE-SW; D 0.95m) S of centre. A few metres SW of the pit is an electricity pylon. A shallow pit dug on the edge of the stream has slightly truncated the NNW edge of the enclosure.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
