The National Monuments Service's description

In undulating poorly drained pasture, at the SW end of a natural elevation. A roughly rectangular rise (H 1.5m) with a flattened top (c. 24m NE-SW; c. 13m NW-SE) defined by a scarp on the SE, SW and NW sides. The NE side is defined by a fosse-like trench (Wth 4.7m; Wth at base 2.2m; ext. D 1.35m) on the line of a field drain and significantly wider than it. A slight undulation, 2m to NE of the drain, may indicate a levelled outer bank. On the SE side the scarp encompasses a broad natural slope (Wth c. 13m). On the SW side the scarp drops to a low spine of elevated ground extending to S for several metres, effectively an extension of the natural rise. On the NW side the scarp (Wth c. 5m) falls to an area of wet ground that may mask the line of a fosse. The interior, which encompasses the natural rise, is a relatively narrow level space, rising slightly at the SW end. Two enclosing banks and an intervening fosse are visible in an aerial photograph (IASAP, 3037081). A possible fulacht fia (SL039-006001-) lies c. 50m to NE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
