The National Monuments Service's description
In flat reclaimed pasture, c. 1.5km E of Moylough. A dense concentration of moss-covered stones, varying greatly in size from medium-sized rounded stones to large boulders and irregular slabs, is spread over a roughly oval area (c. 28m NW-SE; 25m NE-SW) and engulfed in a thicket of hawthorn bushes. The largest stones occur on the outer limit of the spread and while the general impression is of a dense and chaotic spread there are some possible N-S rows of upright stones. At NE and E there is a very slight rise around the perimeter, possibly the remains of the earthen bank which, according to local information, once enclosed the burial ground. According to local information, unbaptised babies were buried here until c. 1960. It is named 'Burial Ground' on the 1838 OS 6-inch map.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
