The National Monuments Service's description
In the NW quadrant of a rath (SL038-035003-). A lintelled opening at the SSW end of a depression (c. 2.5m NNE-SSW; D 1m) leads to two lintelled stone-lined passages linked by a creepway. Passage 1 (4.1m NE-SW; 1.3m NW-SE; H 1.5m) is entered through a modern opening at the NE end. Two niches in the NW wall and one in SE wall were noted. A creepway (Wth 0.8m; H 1m) at the SW end gives access to a second passage at right angles to passage 1. Passage 2 (3.3m E-W; 1.4m N-S; H 1.7m) ends with a blocked creepway (Wth 0.9m; H 0.9m; L 3m) at the E end. The area around the entrance is overgrown with bushes. The site of another souterrain (SL038-035002-) is in the SW quadrant of the rath.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
