The National Monuments Service's description

This is listed as a 'tomb' in the SMR (1989) and RMP (1995). The source of this reference is F. Grose, Antiquities of Ireland (1797, 57) where he notes that 'There are two handsome antient tombs in the church.' It is possible that Grose mistakenly misinterpreted the sedilia at the E end of the S wall of the chancel for one of these tombs. Alternatively, there may have been two tombs visible there when he recorded the friary as there was much more in existence when he drew his sketches.
