The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on the N-facing slope of a rise. Remains of a roughly circular area (27.1m N-S; 31m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 1m) along the N arc and rising ground (H 0.9m) along the S arc. The N portion of the interior is raised and the S portion is cut into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. Nevertheless the interior still slopes gently from SW to NE, is concave in profile, possibly due to the remains of levelled earthen banks. The rath was levelled in 1985 and a low rise with faint traces of an earthen bank E-W and a scarp W-E were noted during a subsequent inspection in 1985 (SMR (1989) file) as well as a souterrain (SL037-003002-) on the N edge.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
