The National Monuments Service's description
At the northern end of a plateau in pasture. This is a circular cairn (diam. 25m; H c. 3m) now substantially grass-grown. There is an OS trigonometrical station on top of the cairn and a massive erratic has been incorporated in its northern end. The top of the cairn has been disturbed and there is a hole on the western side. A trench (L c. 10m; Wth c. 2m; D c. 1m) extends from the cairn edge at the SE towards the centre. There is a possibility that this could indicate the position of a collapsed or largely demolished passage and chamber. Wood-Martin (1883-4, 462) has recorded that the site was known as 'Seelewey'. He also recorded a claim that many years ago a Lady L. Tennison and others had cut a trench into the cairn discovering only some bones. Abuts circular enclosure (SL034-156----) to S. (Ó Nualláin 1989, 93)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
