The National Monuments Service's description
In improved pasture, on the S-facing slope of a low ridge. The poorly preserved remains of a circular area (diam. c. 20m) defined by an arc of earthen bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.5m) SW-NW with a shallow external fosse (Wth c. 2m) and the faint outline of a bank NW-NE. There are no visible remains of the bank NE-SW or of the adjoining N-S field boundary which is indicated on the 1914 OS 6-inch map cutting the E side of the rath. There is a mound of field clearance material inside the bank at W. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an oval embanked area (c. 40m N-S; 30m E-W).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
