The National Monuments Service's description
In rough pasture, near the top of a gentle SW-facing drumlin slope; in the centre of the E half of a graveyard (SL034-048002-). Only the SE end-wall (H 1.7m; L 8.7m; T 0.75m), built of mortared random rubble with pick-dressed quoins, stands of the church shown as a rectangular building (c. 15m NW-SE) on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. Part of the base of a splayed window embrasure survives in the centre of the wall. This is flanked internally by two small plain wall-presses. A pile of cut and dressed stones along the base of the wall include the head of a window light with a pointed chamfered arch and part of a chamfered door surround. This is the remains of the medieval parish church of Kilmacallan (M. B. Timoney 1999/2000, 40). It is named 'Templemore' on the 1914 OS 6-inch map and is known locally by that name. 'Tobermoneen' holy well (SL034-045----) is c. 300m to the W.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
