The National Monuments Service's description

On low-lying boggy ground, just above the S shore of Cloonacleigha Lough. A square area (25.5m NE-SW; 24.3m NW-SE) defined by an inner earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.5m) along the SW side and by a scarp elsewhere. The intervening fosse (Wth 4m) is flat-bottomed and boggy. The outer bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 0.3m) is evident along the SW, NW and NE sides. The E corner and the SE side are truncated by a field boundary. The interior is wet. There is a crannog (SL032-198----), connected to the shore by a causeway, c. 140m to NW in Cloonacleigha Lough. (O'Conor 1998, 88; O'Sullivan 1998, pl. 52).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
