The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on a break in the steep NE-facing slope of Muckelty Hill. An oval area (29.5m N-S; 34m E-W) terraced into hillslope with the S half c. 0.1m below and N half up to 0.9m above the external ground level. The interior is defined by a scarp (H 0.9m) topped by grass-covered foundations of a drystone wall (Wth 2m; H 0.2m; original Wth 1m) SW-E and by an inner-facing scarp (H 0.1m) E-SW. The interior slopes down gently to NW. There is a souterrain (SL032-177002-) in the SW quadrant.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
