The National Monuments Service's description
In wet, boggy ground, on top of a ridge. An oval area (34.5m N-S; 30m E-W) enclosed by a discontinuous flat-topped earthen bank (Wth 5m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.5m). A flat-bottomed external fosse (Wth 3.8m; D 0.6m), which is evident all round, is recut as a drainage ditch along the NW arc. There is an entrance (Wth 3m) in the E arc, with the N edge marked by a line of stones, and a corresponding causeway across the fosse. The interior is wet and boggy. There is a souterrain (SL032-134002-) in the NW quadrant.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
