The National Monuments Service's description
On an E-facing slope. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an embanked circular area (diam. c. 40m), covered with deciduous trees. The remains consist of a D-shaped raised area (dims. 25m E-W), with a straight E side (L 36m N-S), defined by a scarp (max. H 1.9m) all round with a dry external fosse (Wth 9m; max. D 0.9m) evident SE-NNE. A flat-topped outer earthen bank (Wth 6m; int. H 1.7m; ext. H 1.2m) is evident W-NNE with an outer fosse (Wth 6.3m; D 1.2m) NW-NNE. The interior slopes gently down to E; a NE-SW field boundary crosses the N half of the interior. Outside and parallel to the scarp along the E arc is a disused stone wall that appears to be on the line of an avenue (indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map) to Streamstown House (SL032-085----) c. 90m to NNW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
