The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on level ground, at the base of Knocknashee Mountain. This rath has been levelled and only the NW and SE quadrants are evident, defined by a slight scarp (max. H 1m). The interior (diam. c. 26m) is bisected by an E-W field boundary and drain; a second field boundary extends S from the first crossing the SW quadrant. An E-W scarp (H 0.2m) facing N, bisects the SE quadrant. A quarry cuts into the E edge of the rath. There is a souterrain (SL032-016002-) in the SE quadrant, immediately to N of the scarp. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an embanked circular area (diam. c. 25m) bisected by a lane and on the 1914 OS 6-inch map as bisected by a field boundary.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
