The National Monuments Service's description
In elevated rocky pasture, on a slight SW-facing slope. An oval slightly raised area (24m N-S; 19m E-W) enclosed by a stone wall (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.6m) consisting of limestone rubble and some larger limestone boulders. The interior is rocky and undulating and slopes gently down to SW. There is a souterrain (SL028-021002-) in the SE quadrant. A roughly circular annexe (diam. 24m) (SL028-021003-) is conjoined to the cashel at SW. It is defined by a degraded stone wall (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.5m) which joins the cashel wall at S and SW. The interior of the annexe is level and strewn with moss-covered rocks.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
