The National Monuments Service's description
In rough pasture, at the edge of a sloping shelf on a W-facing slope overlooking a narrow valley. A subrectangular area (int. dims. 42m x 29.3m) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 0.8m) on the N, E and S sides and by a natural scarp on the W side. The bank on the E side has an external stone facing and is topped by a stone wall. There is an external fosse (Wth 2.5m; D 1.1m) on the N and E sides. The entrance (Wth 2m) is at the N side. There is a hut site (SL028-016002-) in the interior. A motte and bailey (SL028-012----) lie c. 250m to W in the adjacent townland of Carrownagilty.
