The National Monuments Service's description
In rough grazing, at the base of the S-facing slope of a ridge. A circular area (int. diam. 29m) defined by the remains of an earthen bank (Wth 6.4m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.4m) SW-N and by a scarp (H 1.2m) elsewhere. An external fosse is evident all round as a shallow depression (Wth 5m; D 0.4m) marked by a growth of rushes. Though there is no clearly defined entrance, there is a causeway (Wth c. 5m) across the fosse at E. The S portion of the interior is raised to compensate for the hillslope. A low rise (Wth c. 7m) immediately outside the fosse along the SW and E arcs may be the remains of a counterscarp bank.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
