The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on a S-facing slope overlooking the Owenmore River to S. A circular area (int. diam. 31m) enclosed by two earthen banks with an intervening fosse (Wth 4m). The stony inner bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.6m) is evident all round with an inner facing of upright stones along the E arc and traces of possible outer facing in places also. An entrance (Wth 5.5m) with a causeway over the fosse was noted. The outer bank (Wth 3m; int. H 2m; ext. H 1.2m) is evident only S-N. The interior slopes down to S and is covered with overgrowth. A NNW-SSE field boundary crosses the W half of the interior.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
