The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on top of a ridge. A roughly circular area (25.8m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank with scant remains of an external fosse. The bank (Wth 3.4m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 1.5m) is low and degraded internally. There are gaps (Wth 2m) in the bank at SW and NE with ramps to allow vehicles into the interior. The fosse is evident as a shallow depression SSW-SW. A curving field boundary skirts the bank SW-NW, c. 2m outside the bank, probably on the line of the fosse. The interior is level. A quarry pit (diam. c. 12m; D c. 2m) has destroyed most of the NE quadrant. There is a short section of a water-filled drain (Wth 2m; D 0.5m) outside the bank NNE-NE. A rectangular enclosure (SL025-141----) lies c. 30m to SW.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
