The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on the SE-facing slope of a ridge. A slightly raised roughly circular area (31m NW-SE; 35m NE-SW) enclosed by an earthen bank and a possible external fosse. The bank (Wth 3.8m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 1.1m) is evident all round but along the S arc is low internally (H 0.2m) and substantial (H 1.6m) externally to compensate for the natural slope of the ridge. The bank W-N (Wth 2.8m) has an almost vertical external face with a low step (Wth 1.2m; H 0.4m) at its base. Several small eroded gaps were noted in the bank including one at E now obscured by gorse. A depression (Wth 4m) noted at N, between the bank and a sharp natural rise of the ridge, may be the remains of a fosse. The interior is covered with thistles and slopes gently down to S and SE. There is a field boundary immediately to NE and a road immediately to SE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
